Tips to improve your lighting decor

Use more than one light soruce for your home

When it comes to lighting your home, it's always a good idea to use more than one light source to produce a variety of layers of light. With multiple sources you can control the mood and intensity of the effect. A single lamp in an otherwise dark room won't provide enough light, but when paired with wall sconces or another floor lamp, it will create interesting shadows and depth.

Multiple lights also allow you to play with different types of lighting. For example: if you have a large chandelier in one room and a smaller table lamp nearby that's turned on—you might want them both on at once or only one at a time depending on what type of effect you're going for!

It’s important when choosing new bulbs for all these lighting fixtures (be sure they match if necessary): Incandescent bulbs are available in many styles for any type of fixture; Halogen bulbs are brighter but shorter-lived than incandescents; LED-based bulbs offer longer life spans than either incandescents or halogens; Fluorescent tubes come in many color temperatures ranging from soft white (2700K) all the way up through daylight (5000K).

Plan ahead for modern lighting solutions

You might think of lighting as something that's added on after the fact, but taking time to plan for your lighting can make a huge difference in how the space feels. Whether you're adding on or remodeling, keep the following tips in mind:

Check with your contractor about what kinds of lights they can use. While many people think of LED lights as being modern, there are still plenty of options out there that will give you a more traditional look.

Think about how you want to use your home and how much time you’ll spend in each room before choosing a style. For example, if you only eat dinner at home once or twice per week, then halogen bulbs might be more suitable than LEDs since they provide better color and heat output—making them ideal for entertaining guests!

Consider using floor lamps and adjustable wall sconces

If you rent, or live in an older house where you can't alter the lighting, consider using floor lamps and adjustable wall sconces. They are a great way to add layers of light to your room. You can use floor lamps on the perimeter of a room and adjustable wall sconces in its center. Or you can use adjustable wall sconces as your main source of illumination and pair them with pendants over side tables or breakfast bars for additional task lighting. Floor lamps and ceiling fixtures can also be combined with other light sources to achieve a variety of effects—from dramatic (think spotlighting) to subtle (useful when reading). By varying the height at which they're placed, floor lamps allow you to create different moods in different areas within one space—whether it's a home office or family room!

Use candles or candle lanterns

Candles are a better option than wax warmers. Wax warmers can be expensive and messy, and they don't necessarily create the calming atmosphere you're looking for. Candles, on the other hand, provide a much softer light that's easier to control. Plus, candles can be used to cleanse your space with their purifying properties or provide soothing fragrances by burning incense in them or placing essential oils near them!

Keep in mind that not all candles or candle lanterns are created equal. Some have more of an impact than others due to their ingredients (for example: beeswax has antibacterial properties). So keep these things in mind when choosing which type of candle is right for your home!

Light up every room in your house

One of the most common lighting mistakes is to only light up a room with ceiling lights. To create a more inviting and personal space, you should also incorporate lamps, pendants, and sconces in your decorating scheme.

Lamps are great for lighting up entryways or as bedside nightstands. Pendants are perfect for hanging over dining tables or kitchen islands (and make it easy to switch out light bulbs). And finally, sconces can be used in hallways or bathrooms—places where you want soft ambient light but no harsh glare from overhead fluorescents or direct sunlight.

Your lighting choices can make or break the look of your room

Your lighting choices can make or break the look of your room. You want to get the best lighting solutions while keeping your decor cohesive.

Lighting is one of the most powerful tools for transforming a space, so don't forget to think about it when you're doing any kind of redesign. We hope these tips will help you to create a more beautiful space. Remember that lighting is one of the most important elements in your home, so make sure you give it just as much attention as any other aspect of decorating. In fact, it might be even more important!
